Prof.Tahir Öğüt was born in Ankara in 1967 and graduated from Gazi University Faculty of Medicine in 1991. He received his degree in Orthopedics and Traumatology from Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, Istanbul University in 1997.
In 1999 Prof.Tahir Öğüt was chosen among 10 candidates and appointed as the chief assistant to the Orthopedics and Traumatology Clinic of Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. Due to the earthquake during that period, he worked as a volunteer and without a cadre in the first 3 months of this new mission.
Prof.Tahir Öğüt for a period of one month in 2001 studied “Ilizarov Surgery” in Italy and in 2002 in the Netherlands for 3 months on “Foot and Ankle” surgery. Prof.Tahir Öğüt became an Associate Professor in 2005 and between 2006 and 2007 worked on foot and ankle surgery at Duke University in North Carolina, USA for 6 months. Prof.Tahir Öğüt became a professor in 2011. Prof.Tahir Öğüt has been very interested in Foot and Ankle Surgery since 2000. “Foot and Ankle Surgery” has constituted 80-90% of Prof.Tahir Öğüt’s work since 2007. Prof.Tahir Öğüt, who has about 40 international articles as an international reference, made many presentations as a guest speaker in Europe and the United States. He wrote a section on “Foot Arthroscopy” in a prestigious book published in the US in 2010 and which today is used by Orthopedists from all over the world in the Department of Foot and Ankle Surgery. Prof.Tahir Öğüt, who is one of the founders and executives of the Foot and Ankle Society in Turkey, became the first and only Turk to be elected EFAS Board Member in 2010. In addition, three videos of the operation techniques by Prof.Tahir Öğüt were included in 2014 edition of a classical book that is published in the US and labeled as the “Bibel” by all foot-ankle surgeons. Another valuable scientific book published in Europe includes a section written by Prof.Tahir Öğüt. He is also an active member of AOFAS (American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Surgery Association).
Prof.Tahir Öğüt is a graduate of İstanbul Erkek Lisesi and speaks English and German very well.
